The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints has Home Storage Centers (HSC) scattered around the country. The HSC is a resource to use when building your longer-term food storage. Most items that they carry come in a #10 can and store for up to 30 years.

This is a great option if you don’t want to go to the trouble to repackage and store items yourself. However, due to COVID, they are having shortages on just about everything. Some locations are currently open for business by appointment only. Please call to make that appointment. If the line is busy, leave a message and they will return your call. You can find the location nearest you here. They only accept credit and debit cards as payment. They DO NOT accept cash, check or American Express.

They used to have monthly specials, but I think those are discontinued for 2021 because of the ongoing shortages. Their stock changes daily and many items come and go quickly. The canneries that process the canned goods are running 24/6. They are having a hard time keeping up with the unexpected demand from people adding to their food storage and the need for relief efforts around the world.

One trick that may help you slowly get your “wish list” filled, is to make multiple appointments and focus on getting just one in-stock item at a time. Many of the open locations have received all the products (not in great quantity) at one time or another since they reopened.

Another option is to order online and have the product delivered directly to your door. You can do this at store.churchofjesuschrist.org. (Food Storage items are found under the “All Categories” pull down menu.) They are experiencing some of the same shortages, but they have quite a few items in stock and shipping is very reasonable. These items are all in #10 cans and sold only by the case through the online portal.

The 2021 price list can be found here.
